Disabling New Tab Recommendations in Chrome

The Pocket Extension for Google Chrome includes Trending Stories and Topics on your new tab page. If you prefer not to see Pocket’s recommendations and see your Most Visited Sites instead, simply follow the instructions below.

  1. Open a new tab in Chrome
  2. Click the “?” above the recommended stories
  3. Select “Hide Pocket Recommended Stories”

That's it! The next time you open a new tab, you'll see your Most Visited Sites in Chrome.

Further Customizations

The Extension Options page includes additional options to customize your Pocket experience in Chrome. There are two ways to get there:

  1. Right click (or control+click on Mac) on the Pocket icon and select Options
  2. After saving, hover your mouse over the Menu button (•••) then click Settings

Once you’re in the Options menu, scroll down to the Recommendations section and uncheck Show stories and topics in my New Tab to no longer see them when you open a new tab.

If you prefer not to see this feature or have suggestions on how to improve this feature, we’d love to hear from you! Please click here to get in touch with Pocket.
